With a history of church and school choirs, musical theater, playing piano, guitar, and creating beats on her drum, it came as no surprise that djing came next in line for Ami. Inspired by her first club in 1993 and numerous wild adventures on the road seeing live bands, she knew that music would be her outlet for self expression. Using the moniker Spirit, she began to play for local clubs and became a frequent guest at Riders of the Plastic Groove, a local and internet radio show which continues to broadcast every Friday night. She has been featured on other internet radio shows, clubs and events in and around Orange County and Los Angeles including the Vans Warped Tour where she had the opportunity to play in San Bernardino, San Diego and Oakland, CA. She has also graced the decks in other major cities such as Rochester and Ithaca, NY and Portland, OR. In 2000, Ami founded Our House Melodies to start her own event production; running such events as Greenhouse/LA and Our House;
"Orange Countys most intimate house night." -Andrew Asch (OC Weekly) More recently, Ami has been involved in Soul Titanium; a non-profit organization that hosts events for free in an effort to feature new and established DJs while raising awareness and assistance to various charities. She also has the honor as the first female guest on This Thing of Ours, an internet radio broadcast hosted by digibag.com, an excellent web-site that is all about the music!! (check it out) |
